| A farming family with a rich history.
Terry Gerrald, president of Gerrald's Vidalia Sweet Onions Inc., grew up on a family farm near Statesboro, Ga. His father, Roy, was one of the area's most experienced and respected farmers who was always a step ahead of the times with equipment and the use of irrigation systems before they became popular in the Deep South.
So perhaps it was only natural for Terry to follow in his late father's footsteps when he expanded time and time again to his current farming operations which span over 5,000 acres. In addition to seasonal produce such as Vidalia Sweet Onions, Georgia watermelons and cantaloupes, Terry plants row crops such as soybeans, peanuts and wheat.
In 2003, Jamie Brannen became a partner in Gerrald's Vidalia Sweet Onions. Today, they manage and operate the region's most advanced climate controlled storage and processing center in a location that is considered one of the most accessible in Southeast Georgia.
And as for the future of Gerrald's, it looks sweeter than ever!
